Stay Ahead of the Curve

KoRn, along with Disturbed and Hatebreed play at the Brisbane Riverstage in Bisbane on Monday, 24 April, and leading up to the bands visit, Ritchie Yorke of The Sunday Mail grabbed a few words with KoRn fontman Jonathan Davis.

KoRn lead singer and eminence grise Jonathan Davis is not the easiest interview in contemporary rock music, especially when you're discussing the affairs of his band.

He likes to keep the KoRn details deliberately hazy.

But get him on to a favourite topic and you can hardly keep up with his verbal output. Such a favored topic is hard rock kings, Led Zeppelin. Mention their name and Davis slides into rhapsodic platitudes.

"They're the masters. They're my favourite band of all time... I love Led Zeppelin," Davis stridently assures us from San Diego, California, where KoRn were preparing for another stadium gig.

"What can I say about Zeppelin? They're just a fucking amazing band.

"They're just gods to me.
"

Davis, whose band plan to tear up the Brisbane Riverstage, says that KoRn's latest album "See You on the Other Side" reflects change in the manner of a Led Zep.

"We ushered in a genre of music and now we're trying to stay ahead of that curve. This isn't minimalist, old-school KoRn – this is a natural progression for us and we're kicking it up a notch."
